Principal's Message

Welcome to West Bench Elementary,

 

We are a small school located in the beautiful Okanagan. We strive to provide a welcoming, safe, supportive, inclusive, and cooperative place of learning for every student.

 

The role of the school is to educate the whole child. While a child's academic achievement is important, we also need to foster a child's physical and social emotional growth. I believe we should work to support students to develop and apply critical thinking skills that are reflective of their learning, to feel confident in their ability to learn and their ability to achieve goals, and to have the tools to accomplish the tasks they set for themselves.

 

I believe that parents and guardians play an equally important role in every child’s learning experience. I encourage parents and guardians to be active participants in the daily learning activities and school experiences of their children.

 

At West Bench, we value the daily contributions of community and parent volunteers who assist with Breakfast Club, One to One Reading, special class activities and field trips, Cross Country, Marathon Club, PAC, and our Hot Lunch Program. The invaluable time our volunteers dedicate to our school and students is greatly appreciated!
